Frequently Asked Questions

What areas of my home should be insulated?

Insulation isn’t limited to just attics and exterior walls. It should also be installed in various other areas of your home, including ceilings with unheated spaces, basement walls, floors above vented crawl spaces, cathedral ceilings, floors over unheated garages or porches, knee walls, between interior walls (especially bathrooms), and ceilings or floors for added sound control.

What is the best type of insulation: batt, spray foam, or blown-in?

Each type of insulation has its own advantages and disadvantages, making each ideal for specific applications. At Allstate Insulation, we don't limit ourselves to just one type of insulation. Instead, we provide our customers with various options, carefully explaining the pros and cons of each type and the applications they are best suited for.

What is R-Value?

Insulation is categorized and labeled according to its R-value, where "R" stands for resistance to heat flow. Therefore, a higher R-value indicates greater insulating effectiveness.

How can I tell the current R-Value of insulation in my home?

The R-Value of your insulation can decrease over time as the product ages or settles. If your insulation has not been replaced since 2000, it is likely time to consider getting new insulation in your home.
